Calgary Stampede Time Again
So, I'm at work this morning. We get the morning off to watch the parade, but I hate a parade:) Plus if i work this morning I get the afternoon off. I'd much rather have that. I was supposed to go out to the bar tonight (I haven't been in ages) but my friend canceled as she's not feeling well. I'm okay with that, I'd rather save my money for partying later next week. I have an all day party on Thursday. It stars off with a pancake breakfast which includes lots of vodka and orange juice:) Then we'll move to the legion for a few ours. Then I'll be going to Hotel Arts for our office Stampede party. So I should by nice and happy drunk by that time. I'll eat lunch sober up a bit and then drink more. The company gives everyone a taxi chit to get home. I'll just take the bus downtown to start the day off so my car's not trapped at the office. I took Friday off so I can stay home and recover if I need to. Hopefully I'm not hung over though!!!! I'm going down to the grounds on Monday, T. and I took the day off. I think I'm at work for a day and a half next week. Stampede reminds me of Christmas, everyone's in a good mood and no one is around at work. My boss told me I could just take what ever time I want to go out and party, I don't have to make up the time or use vacation time. What a great boss:) Current Mood: devious | | Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 | | 5:22 pm |
June (planting time)
I never post anymore because my computer at home is super slow, like an extremely old man wearing a hat who is driving 30 in a 50 zone. I cannot post at work anymore as they sent out an email advising against blogs during work time, even though I used to do it at lunchtime. I will be getting a new computer at Christmas time. T. and I won't buy each other gifts we will save up for the computer. I just finished my outside planting of veggies and flowers. We moved the crappy red shale out of the front flower bed. I added dirt and peat moss and now I have more room for flowers and veggies. I randomly mixed the two, I like diversity in my beds. Hopefully everything will grow as all the veggies are for the pigs. I might try to dive into some of them this year. We are taking a week off in August. I was hoping to go away for a few days to Jasper, but the price of a nice hotel is disgusting. I don't want to stay in a crap motel either. So, alas we will go no where. I think we will do day trips, like horse back riding, go to this animal park outside of Calgary, etc. At least I won't be at work. And speaking of my job. I hate my evil stupid company. They suck, I am in a shitty union, if I was in a good union, fine, but I'm not. I am about $10,000 underpaid. And we are in union negotiations. I have no idea when we will sign any offer as the last one sucked and they are just about to send out the same offer again! I hope that people have enough balls to vote NO on it so we can do something aggressive and get management to acknowledge that we deserve better. Since Calgary is not having a bus strike I am looking for a new job. I am a land administrator and I am hoping to get into an oil company. I'll probably end up in a smaller company, but that's okay. I would get paid better and get a yearly bonus. I have only applied for about 3 jobs so far, but I did send of my resume to a placement agency and I hoping they can help me. Of course, I do keep buying the odd lottery ticket. So, if all else fails I am hoping to win the lottery:) It's just a little dream, something that helps fill up all those depressing work hours. Haven't been here
I don't post much anymore. I prefer to read communities and post there. I can't be bothered to post amazing stuff that attracts people. This is all just random babbling. Similar to MySpace I'm sure. So many people out there posting and I think so what's the point? I was reading about that in the paper, celebrities abandoning their blogs. Barbara Streisand or Lindsay Lohan. Really they are just people, nothing special about them. Here's an exciting note, IT WON'T STOP SNOWING IN CALGARY, WE WILL NEVER HAVE SPRING. That is the most exciting thing ever! I'll just post about the weather, a Calgary weather channel! Summer Projects Get new wood fence installed in backyard. Get new chain link black fence installed in front yard. Remove red rock from front flowerbeds and add soil. Bury the sump pump hose in the front lawn. Paint the kitchen, put shelves in the office closet and insulate the storage room's ceiling. I think all of that will be very fulfilling. Other than that I am hoping to win the 649 Lottery, $38 Million would take the pressure off. I bet I will feel better in a month and I should finally see some weight loss. Then we will re-evaluate my metabolic type and make sure I'm on the right path for life! John Mayer rocks at the Grammys
Singer John Mayer has found a new way to discourage reporters from asking questions about his relationship with Jessica Simpson, by answering in fluent Japanese. The singer was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards Sunday and refused to answer questions about his personal life in English. When Seacrest asked him about his rumored romance during a live segment on the E! Entertainment TV network, Mayer answered in Japanese, and then told the probing broadcaster, "Find a Japanese person and decode it. Subtitle it. Then you'll have your answer." Before ending the interview, Mayer told an amused Seacrest, "I'm very happy with what I just did to you" before walking off. Seacrest did have Mayer's comments de-coded, which translated to, "She is very beautiful and you'll be the last to know." Mayer, 29, and Simpson, 26, were photographed getting cozy later in the evening at the Sony BMG party, where Simpson's father Joe joked about the earlier exchange. When asked about his daughter's relationship with Mayer he laughingly replied, "I'm answering in the father's language, which is 'No comment!'" Hey it's Valentine's Day!! My mom and I have exchanged cards and gifts for years for Valentine's Day. I talk to other people and they don't do this. I thought everyone did that with their moms. Then I thought maybe my mom is more into these holidays. We also exchange at Easter. Always all the good chocolate holidays! This year I gave her some Purdy's chocolates, usually I get her chocolate covered ginger, but this year I went with another kind of chocolate. I'll have to get her chocolate covered ginger for her birthday in March. Plus I'll get her a piece of Crystal. I started her on Swarovski Cyrstal, Costco sells it cheaper than jewelry stores. I am going to get her a cute bird sitting on a branch. So far I have done all forest creatures, but she loves birds. On a weird note, my one sister that I talk to occasionally finally got an email address. Fine, that's not the weird part. So, she's been sending me email, mostly junky chain letters. But then my other sister who I don't talk to sent me an email the other night. Neither one had my new address so I know my sister S. gave my email address to my sister M. No idea why though, why send email to someone you don't speak to? My sisters are weird. She can send me email, but I'm not sending her any. Like yeah I'll talk to you in cyber space but not on the phone or in person. Besides it's just junky joke emails. Families are so strange. T. and I got each other cards today and I got him some kick-ass chocolate, all assorted dark chocolate bars. They have all these good one now with different %'s of coco. They are so good to try! He got me just a small amount of chocolate which is fine because we are still eating our Christmas chocolate! He got me Lindt milk chocolate which I love. Dark chocolate is my favourite, but when it comes to those Lindt balls, milk is the way to go. T. has school tonight, so we'll have to have some lovin later in the evening. I am thinking maybe it's a good night for some 69! This weekend will be porn on Saturday night, so I'm thinking it's a good week of sex for us:) Current Mood: enthralled | | Wednesday, February 7th, 2007 | | 8:23 am |
Dr. Day
I am off to the chiropractor and then to get an allergy shot. I will be getting one allergy shot per week for 10 weeks. It's my trees booster. I am hoping this is my last year, but I say that every year and it never seems to end. Maybe they will do allergy testing in the fall to see if I can stop with these allergy shots. At least I am done the one per month. I'll have to take my serum with me and go to the walk in clinic by my house for the shots. Since I am not downtown anymore and my allergy Dr. is I am outta luck with getting the shot at lunch time. I might try my dermatologist since she is where I work. Sometimes Dr.'s offices get weird about giving allergy shots. Lost is back on TV tonight. I am so thrilled, that show is very good. I also watch Heroes on Monday nights and it rocks as well. Thank God there are some decent shows on TV. I would watch Veronica Mars but I missed all of season 2. I am renting it now to get caught up. Chili is on the mend:)
He took a while to recover after the surgery, 7 days later he was finally more himself. I put him back with Hershey last Tuesday. They were so happy to be reunited. There was lots of purring and love. Chili is eating his pellets again! He always stuck with his hay and water, but now he is back onto the Cavy Cuisine. I did cut back a bit on dark leafy greens, luckily both he and Hershey love cucumber and celery. The vet recommended those two veggies the most. I did give them some apple and pear and they went for those as well. Current Mood: happy | | Wednesday, January 24th, 2007 | | 3:52 pm |
Why, may I ask why?!
We have a whiteboard at work with all of the land people’s names on it. So, if you are going to be out, you say where and when you will be back. This is for when people from other departments come looking for you. It makes sense right? Well apparently not. People will come up to me when I am standing right by the board and they will ask where J is. I will turn around to read the board and tell them. Then ask when they will be back and once again I turn around to read it to them. Are they illiterate, stupid or just plan lazy? This happens all the time. Sometimes I say, “Well the board says this” and see if they notice I am reading it. Why do people drive without signaling? I don’t know if you are going to change lanes or turn a corner unless you indicate that by signaling. That is what a signal light is for. Barely no one uses them. Is it supposed to be some sort of fun mystery game? You do learn some ESP with these drivers. I can usually tell when someone wants to change lanes but they are not signaling. I went to dinner the other night with friends. We went to Earl’s, it’s a good restaurant chain here in Canada, sort of middle of the road. Anyway, after waiting for more than 40 minutes for our food, it arrives cold! Table runners brought it out, so when our waiter stopped by to ask how our food was and I said it was cold and we had to send it back to the kitchen for reheating, he shouldn’t have said, “Other than that how’s the food?” The whole point of eating out is the food, so if it is served cold it is no good! I wrote a huge complaint to Earls on-line, I’ll see if I get any kind of response. If not I will mail them my $106 receipt along with a nasty letter. Finally, Lost went off the air in November. God only knows why. Day Break replaced it. Day Break is great! It's sort of like Groundhog Day, where this detective is stuck redoing the same day again and again, he gets accused of murdering a lawyer. Now I log onto ABC to see when it is coming back. Never! So, I watched half the season and now Lost is going to come back on Feb 7, but no more Day Break? ABC is airing the rest of the episodes on-line. I hope I can find someone to burn the rest onto a CD for me so I can watch them on our DVD player. Very frustrating. When a series gets cancelled they should at least air the remainder of it on TV. Idiots. That’s it for now. I’ll see if anything is bothering me later… Current Mood: pissed off | | Thursday, January 18th, 2007 | | 12:33 pm |
Guinea Pig Surgery
I knew Chili was not feeling well this week so I got him into the vet pronto. Yesterday we went in and Chili had an xray right away. He has a bladder stone. It is quite big and the only solution is surgery. Poor Chili. He is not eating as much as usual and I know he is uncomfortable. Plus the vet pushed on his bladder as part of the initial exam before the xray which kind of irritated him, obviously. Anyway, I've got him on pain meds and antibiotics. The surgery is tomorrow. Not sure the exact time of day but my vet is coming in early to do it. She is really a great vet, she gave me a big hug since I was crying and she always has kleenex in all the exam rooms. I am trying to think positive! Chili will wake up and feel better. I'm sure she will keep him overnight so I will get him back on Saturday. I do really believe this will work out well. We also saw that he has some joint changes on his knees. Arthritis I think, bone spurs. He might be on pain meds permanently after that. I had another pig on pain meds for his arthritis in his hips, it made a big difference. When they are in pain they don't feel very hungry and their weight can drop which is bad. Chili has lost some weight, but I'm sure as part of his recovery he will eat more and gain it back. Let's all think good thoughts for Chili!! Super Shiny
I think I will send my hubby flowers for our wedding anniverary on Feb 8. I'm glad we got married on that day. We can always have something to celebrate in February since we both sort of dislike Valentine's Day. Plus they jack up all the prices on flowers for V-Day, such a rip off. And the restaurants get booked up and it's not romantic being in a packed restaurant! I am going to make us reservations at the Sultans Tent. We've always wanted to eat there. You can sit in your own tent on cushions and eat a 5 course meal:) That is where we will be on Feb 8 for dinner. No going out on V-Day. T. has class that night and I will just send my mom a card and get her some candy. Today is Friday. Blessed be. I think I might go home and drink. I am in the mood for some alcohol. Maybe I will pick up something nice on the way home, I have an extra air miles coupon I can use at the liquor store that is right by my house! Crapy vehicle for sale
This is posted at my office on our Intranet. What a joke!! For Sale 1995 Ford Explorer. $3000 OBO 203,000 kms. New transmission put in at 108,000 kms, Power doors, windows, side mirrors, locks, keyless entry. 4 door, AC, 4 x 4, command start, antilock brakes. Blue exterior (some rust), gray interior. Regular maintenance. Passenger door lock and rear door lock do not work. Driver's side door lock works 80% of time. Unreliable in hot weather, has tendency to quit running. Air conditioning works, but advise against using it. Heat does not function properly, make sure you always have winter boots and gloves at the ready if driving it in winter. If you are using the heater, when you notice a burning smell, it is coming from the truck. Turn off the heat and wait a few minutes before you try again. Master control for back right window does not function. Window cleaning fluid is temperamental, must try several times before it will work. Left speaker works about 50% of time. Antilock brake light sometimes comes on. Ignore it, it usually turns itself off. When driving, sometimes it 'shudders' like it's about to stall, ignore it and hope it keeps running. Massive rust spot on back right quarter panel. This vehicle sounds like it could die at any time. I guess if someone is a mechanic and wants to try to fix it, otherwise it just sounds dangerous. Christmas and Flu!
So, we had Christmas Eve and Christmas day which were fun. Then my husband and I got home and we went to be around 11:30. T. was up and down for most of the night, I was sleeping and sort of noticed. Eventually it was my turn. Major diarrhea. Like pissing out your ass. Also, I felt sick. I only got sick once, it had to be the sink as the toilet was "full". Then I had to scoop the stuff that wouldn't go down the drain into a cup and put it in the toilet. Gross enough for you? T. puked way more than me. We both felt achy and had fevers. We spent Boxing Day recovering. I was awake for maybe 5 hours tops. I just stayed in bed and slept. T. went to work on the 27th. We both felt better, just weak. I had to take some imodium as my diarrhea never went away. I guess that was our post Christmas cleanse!! Let's get to the good stuff, presents! T. got me a green Zen!! Yes I am super duper excited about that. My mom got me Season 1 of the Twilight Zone, hopefully you guys are up on that show. Rod Serling was a genius. We have already watched about 6 episodes. I also got a bunch of scratch tickets from mom and T. T. got me a Stephen King book, can't remember the name right now, plus $25 in Chapters gift certificates. My mom made me an awesome wall hanging, it's a quilted Christmas tree, very nice. Plus mom gave us some cash to split. T.'s dad gave us a gift certificate to Sears, we don't know what to buy yet. I am off to Winners today to buy a pair of jeans. I have won $40 on my scratch tickets. I will go and buy some more scratch tickets to occupy me for New Years Day. What’s your favourite kind of freak?
Mine is conjoined twins. What a way to live your life, stuck to another person. I saw a show on Cheng and Eng Bunker recently, it showed all of their relatives since they both married and had children. They are the most famous of the conjoined twins. I missed the show that was on TV last night showing Abigail and Brittany. I’ll have to try to find out if it showing again this week. I saw them originally on Oprah when they were 8 years old. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abigail_and_Brittany_Henselhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjoined_twinsSo with Abigail and Brittany I think there are a few issues. First of all I heard their mother saying she’d like to see them get married and have kids of their own. That is truly weird. Number one, do they marry two guys or just one? They only have one vagina, so that would mean both guys would be sharing! Or if one guy marries both, well is that even legal? On a less sexual note, what do they do with post secondary education? One degree or two, hand in 2 papers or one?! They both have to do the same job. They probably have different interests. When they do get a job do they get two pay cheques? They have two heads, but only 2 arms and two legs, so they can’t really do more work than one person. They would only need a one bedroom apartment. There are so many things to think about. I guess the career part and the boyfriend/husband part is the most confusing. According to the article they have their clothes made so they can wear different out fits, well that is another thing to think about! No shopping in stores, their body looks pretty oddly shaped, they would need all sorts of specialty stuff. Yup definitely not the way I would want my life to go, being stuck to another person forever. Enjoy the websites!! Current Mood: curious | | Friday, December 1st, 2006 | | 7:42 pm |
Christmas is a coming...
So, I got my $50 Safeway gift card from the company. That's pretty sweet, I thought it was $25, but $50 rocks. I am going to use it at the liquor store. I have to spend $100 to get a 100 air miles at the Safeway liquor store, so I will only have to spend $50. Plus T. told me that the liquor distributors in Alberta might go on strike for 2 weeks to screw every body, so there will be a big booze shortage. No good at Christmas. I'll stock up tonight and be set, except for coolers but that is no biggy. As for Christmas crap, I am done my shopping. I only bought for my mom, T. and my one friend. I have other friends but we don't exchange gifts anymore. Too expensive and we just can't be bothered. Instead we are doing a dinner out tonight. It's better to visit. I'm not sure if I will get the mom guilt about my one sister who has 3 kids, but I am not buying them any gifts. And none for my sister. After paying for the reno in the basement we owe a lot on the line of credit. And me sending gifts that no one appreciates is not an option any longer. I will mail a card to my sister with $5 in scratch tickets. For her birthday I sent a whole whack of tickets, she won nothing. She sent me a few and I won $3.00. Today I bought a Super 7 lotto ticket, it's $22 million tonight. Yeah that could come in handy. Current Mood: good | | Thursday, November 30th, 2006 | | 5:11 pm |
What About Bob!
Joe Normal 43 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 17% Dork |
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.
This is not to say that you don't have some Nerd, Geek or Dork inside of you--we all do, and you can see the percentages you have right above. This is just to say that none of those qualities stand out so much as to define you. Sure, you enjoy an episode of Star Trek now and again, and yeah, you kinda enjoyed a few classes back in the day. And, once in a while, you stumble while walking down the street even though there was nothing there to cause you to trip. But, for the most part, you look and act fairly typically, and aren't much of an outcast.
I'd say there's a fair chance someone asked you to take this test. In any event, fairly normal.
Congratulations!
If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback!
Also, you might want to check out some of my other tests if you're interested in any of the following:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Professional Wrestling
Love & Sexuality
America/Politics
Thanks Again! -- THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST |
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 21% on nerdiness |
|
You scored higher than 66% on geekosity |
|
You scored higher than 16% on dork points |

My buddy Myriad69 is moving back to BC. Why oh why!! I know why, but it makes me sad. At least we can still see each other when she comes for visits. And there are summer vacations and Folk Fest to look forward to. Plus the pigs will miss her, she is the auntie who loves them most. Where will you get your Guinea Pig fix??!! I'll send pictures. For now, Myriad69 has the cruise to look forward to. Just think of the warm weather..... Current Mood: nostalgic | | 5:59 pm |
Don't care about Celebs
They always play this stupid ET moment on the radio twice a day. I don't care what Hugh Jackman or McDreamy is doing for US Thanksgiving. It just doesn't matter. I had to explain to someone about the US and Canada having different dates for Thanksgiving. Then I had to explain about Boxing Day. Come on why are you so stupid!! Boxing Day is a British holdiay, Canada has it but obviously the US doesn't. People can be so dumb. Current Mood: irritated | | Sunday, November 19th, 2006 | | 9:23 pm |
Gray Cup in Canada
And no it is not the Superbowl of Canada, it is the Gray Cup!! Idiots. I don't watch football. We are going over to K & S's house to watch, well K and I will yack and hang out. Football is so boring, as are all sports. I don't mind seeing them live, but even then I don't pay attention. It's just not my thing baby. Other than that, I get to cover one vacation this week and another next week. J is away and then dumb M goes away. I don't mind covering for J as that means I get phone calls and get to talk to people. Covering for stupid M just means I have to do work and then when she returns she asks me a million stupid questions and points out how I could do her job better with useless insight. Yeah right, lucky I do it all you dumb person. I have a few nights out planned. Sushi, a dance show at the university, and a Christmas lunch coming up. Plus we are going to a fun Christmas party just down the street. Last year we won a toaster over. It is great. I hope we get a crock pot this year. Or a BBQ! The party is on Dec 9. I got a great dress, regular price $90, I paid $22!! I rock on finding sales. Current Mood: chipper |
